On My Playlist

I am not a music buff. First of all, I can't play any instrument and most of all I'm tone deaf. I can't sing. But I love listening to a good music. My music preference cannot be defined but I definitely have good taste (OK, I can hum to the latest pop music on air but I can't stand to watch MTV).

Lately, i am leaning heavily towards the music of the 60's and 70's (yeah, the era of big hair men and women alike). I stumbled upon the other Bee Gees named Andy Gibb. Well, technically he was not part of the group but we cannot think about him without thinking about his famous brothers. He's a Gibb, he has music coursing through his veins. In fact he became famous as a solo artist bringing with him his brand of musicality, his own style. Most of his performances where praised by his audience and critics.

Fans adored him as a teen idol but his angelic voice and wide vocal range made the man not the face. Too bad that he has gone to soon. Should he lived long he can be a country music star or a jazz artist.

What I like about his music is it soothes the tired soul...chillaxing. A good music to listen to with a glass of wine.

Here are the songs on my playlist right now:
* Man on Fire
* I Just Want to be Your Everything
* (Love Is) Thicker Than Water
* Flowing Rivers
* Shadow Dancing
* An Everlasting Love
* (Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away
* Desire
* After Dark
* Time is Time
* Me (Without You)

Something Borrowed from Thor

This weekend, I was able to watched two movies of different genre. I usually watch it in my PC in the comforts of my room (ssshhhh....don't tell this to the authorities).

The first movie I watched is THOR. I am not a superhero fan except for the first three Superman with Christopher Reeves. It was like everybody watched it so I got curious. Well, with the latest technology of course, Thor is a visual delight with all the special effects during the war scenes. There is Shakesperean twist thrown in the story but was not expounded well. Too bad Anthony Hopkins is Odin. He's one good actor. Maybe it's because this only a two-hour movie that other facets of the story was not explored.

The part when he arrived on earth learning the ropes of being human could have been a great story to tell. It was fast forward to the fight scenes so fast I can hardly breathe. The character of Jane was also told differently from the comics version.Way to go for women empowerment...no longer they are damsels in distress.

All in all it was a visual delight including the broad chest, abs and biceps of the actor that played Thor. I know that action flicks like this were bound to have sequels thus a cliffhanger in the end or was it the end already? Oh, to add, I also need to read on Nordic tales to get a better grasp of his story.

Next stop is a romantic comedy, Something Borrowed. Oh yeah, my kind of flick to help me sleep. Romantic comedy. It is an adaptation of a best selling novel by Emily Griffin and as expected target audience are mostly hopeless romantics (codename: Me).

The film is good actually, not just in making you laugh but also makes you think on the scenes and premise  that are laid out on the table. The theme might be common but explored a different view on friendships and choices we make in life. The lead Rachel, was played out adorably and makes you sympathize with what she is feeling. Darcy was played out well by Kate Hudson. Effortless. How come all blondes play the hot / slightly smart chick? Ethan makes you wish you also have a friend like him. Understanding, considerate, sometimes conscience to Rachel. The guy in between, Dex was also played well. He's less swoon worthy as to other Hollywood leading man but there is certain charm in him.

In the end the film talks about choices in life and seizing the moment (not to wait for six years) in order to find happiness. It's worth the one hour or so staring on the screen.

 Until next time...see you at the movies.

Questions that needed answers...

here is the second part of the thought provoking questions that are looking for answers (note: this doesn't necessarily refers to me.)
Letting go is the most mature thing to do. Sometimes you will know the value of something when it is gone.

I don't want milestones in my life, I want moments. Good or bad they are worth remembering.

As the song goes...everything I do, i do it for you.

When relationship becomes a ledger of profit and losses, there are no friends, no families only pluses and minuses and then you'll find out you're absolutely alone.
It is alright to take a risk, calculated risk that is.

It takes a strong individual to cry. Tears are words that are not said because they are hurtful to say.

If the shoe fits...wear it.

Wisdom of a shoe lover:

just like a shoe, when someone is meant for you, they will just perfectly; no forcing, no struggling, no pain.

Here are some of my favorite shoe quotes:

Since I was a kid, I am always fascinated with shoes. I love going to shoe stores, marvel at the scent of leather and touch the masterpieces in all their glory. With shoes, I always trust my instinct and it's always love at first sight. I believe that shoes does not make the woman, but I assure you, they really do make a woman smile...

a two inch heel not only adds height but boost a woman's confidence...
and lastly, I want to share with you my tried and tested formula when it comes to shoes:

and we can never have enough...

Questions that need answers

I want to share with you some questions that will take me a lifetime to answer. Join me in my quest to find answers.
At least I know how old I am. Do you or are you a kid inside a man's body?
Do not wait for the shoe to fall.
Peace, Love and hope.
Hmmm...
Dance as if nobody is watching, laugh as if nobody can hear you.

A Song For Mama

I never really understood the true meaning of being a mother until I become one. Back then Nanay is the person who gave birth to me, rock me to sleep, do all the chores and take care of Tatay. It is now that I am a mom myself, I've finally realized that being a mom doesn't end there.

There are a hundred different ways a Mother shows her love for her kids. Often misunderstood by her children, she quietly bear the weight that she has to carry. Mother's love doesn't stop when the children grow up. Their unconditional love for their children can never be equal.When the world is falling apart, a mom will remain strong, a pillar of support.

In my lifetime I have different moms. First is my Nanay. She may not say it often but I know she loves me in her own way. I owe Nanay a lot for taking care of my kids and my siblings. Her staunch support for her children motivates me to be what I want to be. My Lola is also a mom I grew up with and I love her very much for she opened my eyes to the world. I will never forget her wisdom and her support. My Mommie Jhing defines a new dimension to a mother's love. She need not be a mother to show love. Her love is big enough for all of us.

Now that it is mother's day I want to share this special song that defines a mother. Always remember that a mother is always a woman...Love her. Cherish her and always be thankful for there is always a mom by our side.

And the blog goes on...

It's been a while.

When I started this blog, the plan was to update it as often as I can. Make it a journal of what's on my mind and share my thoughts out loud. Sorry for not writing. Life has been pretty boring and nothing is going through my mind.

One day, i became frustrated with something that I'm doing and took a peek on what I wrote the last time. I was surprised when I read my posts last year. The things I wrote then inspired me to go back to blogging again.

This time I want to write short posts that are not necessarily meaningful but rather memorable for me. I want to share myself more to you. What I'm reading, what I'm watching. My desires, my dreams and my thoughts. I want to open myself more. I want to fill this blog with graffiti of my life...

So here's a toast to my first post for 2011. Looking forward to more blogs in the coming days.
